FAQs for speed dating
What is the success rate at a Quick Connections speed dating event? At most of our events, everyone gets at least one mutual match and many people get 3, 4 or 5. It happens occasionally when speed dating guests don't have any mutual matches.
We do encourage you to tick lots of people. The way we see it, there's no harm in catching up with someone for an hour over a coffee. Even if they don't end up being your lifelong partner, you're at least sure to meet a lot of acquaintances, who may in turn introduce you to their circle of friends. I am nervous about going by myselfThis is common concern when attending a speed dating event. We find most people's fears go out the window once they've taken a sip from their welcome drink, looked around the room and seen everyone else who's there. The nerves definitely do calm down. One of our speed dating hosts will introduce you to one or two others who have come by themselves. Its a fun, friendly, social and relaxed atmosphere and a great way to meet new people. The time seems to fly by once the speed dating begins. As the night comes to an end you'll wonder what you were ever nervous about at the start! What sort of people will I meet?People just like you and me who simply lack the time or resources to go out and meet other singles - friendly, genuine people who value their time and can see all the benefits that speed dating has to offer. Many of our participants are teachers, accountants, nurses, IT workers, doctors, engineers, consultants, public service or government employees, clerical workers etc. You never know what sort of interesting people you'll meet at a Quick Connections speed dating event. What do I wear?Dress to impress - first impressions count. The standard of dress attire is quite high at our events. Participants put time and effort into the way they present themselves. Some people come straight from work so you might see a suit or two. Guys, collared shirt and a nice pair of pants is advisable. Clean shaven with clean nails, hair and shoes are all little things girls look for. How many people will I met? While we guarantee you will meet a minimum of eight people, 98% of all our events consist of 12 guys and 12 girls. How does the matching process work?At the end of the evening, you fill out a MatchCard that specifies who you'd like to see again. If they choose you too, this is what's called a 'mutual match' and your host will contact your with their details. If the match is not mutual (eg. they select you but you don't select them), no-one's details are exchanged. When will I receive my matches? All matches are sent out via email within 24 hrs of the event finishing. If you do not have internet access, we will ring or SMS your results. What do I talk about? You'd be surprised how quickly each individual speed date goes, running out of things to say is almost impossible! Try to think of something a little different from all the usual questions you would normally ask on a first date eg, work, interests, family etc. These sorts of questions can get a bit repetitive by the last few speed dates. We pass around a list of 'bucket questions' (which you draw out of a bucket) which are fun random questions you can call on if you get stuck for something to say. What not to talk about? Please don't ask for contact details or make your questions too personal. As an inside tip, DO NOT talk about ex partners or mention that you are looking for a wife/husband. Be fun, upbeat and positive. Nobody likes a negative/complaining person! What time do the events start and finish? Most Speed Dating events start at 7:30 and finish around 10-10:30. There's a break roughly halfway through the night for food, freshening up and more mingling. What types of payment are accepted? We acceptPayPal, internet transfers and direct deposit. All credit card payments are done via PayPal which is regarded as the most secure transaction service on the internet. We have never had an issue with them since we began. Why speed date when internet dating is available?Single people are looking at alternatives to internet dating because they're tired of 'false advertising'. ie. people claiming to be something other than themselves and they're also beginning to realize that attraction depends on more than just a description or picture of a person. Physical appearance and chemistry play a huge role in the initial stages of dating. With speed dating, you have a good idea if there's a spark or whether you'd like to see that person again and learn more about them. How do I register and book my place at an event?Simply click here to be taken to our registration page. If you have previously registered with us, you can go straight to the Payment page. Where are Quick Connections Speed Dating events held?Speeddating nights are currently being held in Wollongong and throughout the Illawarra. |
