Best ways to handle first date nerves

Decide you are going to have a good time, then you probably will. Take a deep breath. Remember, someone asked and someone said yes, so, at the least you know there are two people who were interested in spending some time getting to know each other!

Try to have a casual 1st date - no big deal, just friendly. Try to relax, much like being with a friend. It's just a date! Lose the expectations.

The other person is just as likely to be nervous. If that doesn’t help, have a small glass of wine or a beer before you go. Don’t overdo it though or it may be your downfall!

Although first impressions count, it helps to take some of the pressure off yourself to perform and decide that you're just going to be yourself.

There are some steps you can take to put yourself at ease before your first date that can help make it a better experience for both of you.

Make sure the date will be something you will enjoy. If your date suggests going sailing but you can't swim and suffer from seasickness, don't be afraid suggest an alternative. Suggest that the two of you do something that is fun and exciting for both of you. This will definitely take the pressure off you to entertain or amuse the other with conversation.
