FAQs for singles dining
Why lunches and dinners for singles?Quick Connections offers a simple and fun way for you to enjoy a meal and meet other local singles who are proactive and want to meet interesting people of a similar age with similar interests. How do the dining and dating events work ?You simply book your place online at your choice of events. Once we have received payment, we will send you a confirmation with full details of where and when to meet. You pay the restaurant for a set menu. Any drinks and additional food are paid for separately. At our Dinner for Twelve events, you meet 6 men/women in your age group. We ask the men to move tables halfway through the meal so that everyone has the chance to get to know eachother. At the end of the evening, you will complete your MatchCard and select who you'd like to see again. If two people select eachother, this is what's called a 'mutual match'. You will receive each other's contact details within 24 hours when there is a mutual match. Are these dining events only for single people?Yes, our events are exclusively for singles aged 27-60 living in Wollongong and throughout the Illawarra. What if I'm shy or nervous? Most people find that after being greeted by the other diners, they relax and wonder what they were worried about. If you tend to be reserved and a great listener, then show the other diners how receptive you are. Remember to make an effort so that people can get to know you. What if I'm outgoing and gregarious and no-one else is?If you are outgoing and the life of the party, then by all means show it but at the same time remember to give others a chance to speak. Will I be pressured for personal details from other daters?Your personal details are confidential and no members will be informed of your details without your permission. We ask that daters do not ask for each other's personal details. We handle the requests for contact via a MatchCard system, which relieves any pressure or potential embarrassment. We recommend you only reveal your first name when meeting someone new. Do not give your home address or telephone number until you are well acquainted with them. We also advise not to accept a lift or be escorted by people you meet for the first time. What sort of people come to these singles dining events?People just like you and me - friendly, honest and genuine. Many of our daters are professionals. eg. teachers, accountants, nurses, IT workers, doctors, engineers, consultants, public service, government employees and clerical workers. You never know what sort of interesting people you'll meet at a Quick Connections dining event.
Quick Connections daters are typically: - single, divorced or separated (sometimes widowed) - new to the area and want to meet other singles - new to being single after experiencing either a relationship break-up or death of a partner Some have been single for some time and have decided to expand their social horizons whilst others have been so busy until now with careers, kids or just having fun when they realise that their options for meeting new people have become limited. Why six?Research has conclusively found that six is the perfect number for a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Each individual has the opportunity to interact personally with their fellow diners, which increases their chances of meeting someone special. It's been found that groups larger than six break into smaller units and fail to maintain a continuous conversation.
How many people will I met? Most of our table events are 'dinner for twelve' style events (2 tables of 3 men and 3 women). We ask the men to move tables halfway through the meal so that everyone has the chance to get to know eachother. Can I dine often? Yes, you can. We arrange regular dinners in a variety of locations in and around Wollongong. If you dine out often you increase your odds of making new friends and meeting your potential partner. How do I get in contact with someone I liked? If you'd like to get in contact with someone you met at a dining event, the next step is to complete a matchcard, which we will supply. You simply select who you would like to see again. All mutual matches are sent out via email within 24 hrs of the event finishing. If you do not have internet access, we will ring or text your results. What do I talk about?Try to think of something a little different from all the usual questions you would normally ask on a first date eg.work, interests, family etc. These sorts of questions can get a bit repetitive. You'll find some fun questions here which tend to get the conversation rolling. What not to talk about? Please don't ask for contact details or make your questions too personal. As an inside tip, DO NOT talk about ex partners or mention that you are looking for a wife/husband or want to start a family. Be fun, upbeat and positive. What time do the events start and finish? Most dinners start at 7:00 and finish around 9:30 or 10pm. I am nervous about going by myselfThis is common concern. We find most people's fears go out the window once they've taken a sip from their welcome drink, looked around the table and seen that everyone else who's there is in the same boat. The nerves definitely do calm down. Its a fun, friendly, relaxed atmosphere and a great way to meet new people. The time seems to fly by once the conversation begins. As the event comes to an end you'll wonder what you were ever nervous about at the start! What do I wear? Most of our restaurants have a smart casual dress code. That said, we encourage you to dress to impress - first impressions do count. Some people come straight from work so you might see a suit or two. Guys - collared shirt and a nice pair of pants is advisable. Clean shaven with clean nails, hair and shoes are all little things girls look for. Girls, we advise either a simple dress or a pressed shirt or nice top and pants or skirt. Which restaurants and type of cuisine are available?Quick Connections selects restaurants based on their quality of food, table service and proximity to parking and transport. We welcome recommendations of restaurants in the Illawarra that you have enjoyed. Depending on the restaurant, the type of cuisine will vary (we generally select restaurants that have wide ranging appeal). We try our best to ensure a broad range of cuisine is available for you to choose from and ask you to inform us ahead of the event if you have any allergies or dietary limitations. What types of payment are accepted? We accept PayPal, internet transfers and direct deposit - see our Payment page for details. All credit card payments are done via PayPal which is regarded as the most secure transaction service on the internet. We have never had an issue with them since we began. How do I register and book my place at an event?Simply click here to be taken to our registration page. If you have previously registered with us, you can go straight to the Payment page. |
