Mariette Rups-Donnelly - 'The Secrets of Body Language' presenter
Mariette Rups-Donnelly is presenting this fun and interactive workshop for Wollongong singles on body language - especially for Wollongong singles - on Sunday 1 August at City Diggers. Mariette is a presenting professional speaker, MC and master presentation skills and performance coach. Through her company Powerhouse Presentation she runs a wide variety of workshops, customised programs for corporations, and individually crafted one on one sessions with clients such as, Vodafone, Australia Post, PRD Nationwide, ABS, AFR BOSS Magazine, LearnX, CanAssist, Careflight, ISES, DADHC, Fonterra Australia, Sydney Property Group, Quantum Dynamics, NARTA and NSAA. She draws her expertise from a 34-year career as an Actor/Singer/Dancer and 26 years of teaching in some of Australia’s leading acting institutions including NIDA, WAAPA, Uni of Western Sydney, The Actor’s Centre, EORA and ACTT. Her teaching expertise covers such diverse areas as Voice, Movement, Acting, Singing, Music Theatre, Performance Technique, Acting for Camera, Play and Script Building, Dance and various aspects of Theatre History and of course Corporate Performance. While teaching actors how to move on stage and how to develop characters she developed a love of the power of body language. ‘Your body is talking the whole time you are communicating with someone and sometimes it is saying the opposite of what your words are saying’. Animals only have sound and body language to communicate with so Mariette has spent a lot of time at the zoo observing the similar ways humans and animals use body language. Her professional acting work is both national and international and includes theatre, television, film and cabaret with leading roles in A Chorus Line, Annie, Big River, Company, The Seagull, Hamlet, Emerald City, Away, among many others, and the title role in Evita, twice. She has sat on academic and course advisory boards for the NIDA Open Program, WAAPA and Uni of Western Sydney. A language specialist, her BA from Sydney University included French, German, Italian, Dutch and Indonesian and she has recently furthered her studies in the psychology of performance. With her background in performance she has developed an enthralling speaking style that is full of information and packed with entertainment.
